Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease or AHPND is a shrimp disease that is caused by a highly deadly strain of Vibrio parahaemolyticus bacteria. AHPND is also known as Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) which affects shrimp in the late post-larval stadia and can cause up to 100% mortality within 30-35 days after stocking.

Black Gill Disease

Black Spot Disease is caused by Vibrio anguillarum bacteria, which is capable of spreading in water. Shrimp infected by this disease have black spots and a brownish color on their shell. Poor water quality and excessive levels of organic feed residue at the pond bottom increase the risk of this disease.

Covert Mortality Disease

Hepatopancreatic microsporidiosis is a shrimp disease caused by the microsporidian Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP). This disease was first discovered in tiger shrimp in Thailand in 2004 before spreading to India, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Hepatopancreatic Microsporidiosis / Enterocytozon hepatopenaei (EHP)

Infectious Hypodermal and Haematopoietic Necrosis (IHHN) disease is caused by the Infectious Hypodermal and Haematopoietic Necrosis Virus (IHHNV). Shrimp in the juvenile phase, approximately at DoC 1-30 days, infected with IHHNV exhibit abnormal growth. The abdominal joints turn shiny white, the body is bluish, and the rostrum deformed or slightly bent.

Infectious Hypodermal and Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus

Infectious Myonecrosis disease, also known as Myo, is one of the most dangerous and lethal diseases in shrimp. Myo is caused by the Infectious Myonecrosis Virus (IMNV), which damages the muscle tissue of shrimp. This disease has the potential to cause significant losses for farmers if not prevented or managed properly.

Infectious Myonecrosis Virus

Taura Syndrome is a shrimp disease caused by the Taura Syndrome Virus (TSV). This virus infection occurs 14-40 days after stocking and transmits through cannibalism among shrimp. The shell of shrimp infected with this virus softens and their digestive tract is empty. These physical signs often develop near the end of the molting process.

Taura Syndrome Virus

White feces disease (WFD) is a shrimp disease caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus. The emergence of white excrement or feces from shrimp that float in the pond is an indication of WFD symptoms. These feces are a collection of damaged, decaying shrimp digestive tissue, which then form aggregates that combine with the feces.

White Feces Disease (WFD)

White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) is a shrimp disease caused by a virus that belongs to the Nimaviridae family and the Whispovirus genus. WSSV is often found in vanname and giant tiger farms, especially in farms with fluctuating temperatures and poor salinity conditions.

White Spot Syndrome

Yellow Head Disease (YHD) is a disease caused by Yellow Head Virus genotype 1 (YHV1). The common symptoms for this disease include a color change of shrimp’s head to pale and yellow. The yellow color is due to the yellowing and enlargement of the hepatopancreas.
