Making your own liquid organic fertilizer can be a cost-effective way to encourage plankton growth in shrimp farms. Plankton serves as a natural food source while also providing shade and helping stabilize pond temperature. Homemade fertilizer made from natural ingredients and minerals can be a more economical option than purchasing inorganic fertilizers. Here are two recipes you can try.
How to Make a Simple Liquid Organic Fertilizer
This method is suitable for farmers looking for a practical, low-cost fertilizer made with relatively few ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg of rice bran.
- 100 g of ZA fertilizer (ammonium sulfate).
- 4 ml of MSG 3.
- 100 ml of EM4 for aquaculture.
- 3 tbsp of instant yeast.
- 100 ml of molasses.
- Sterile water as needed.
Instructions:
- Combine all ingredients in a closed container.
- Leave the mixture for 48 hours.
- After 48 hours, strain the liquid and discard the solids. The liquid organic fertilizer is ready to use.
The quantities above are intended for one application. Adjust the amount of each ingredient according to the size of your pond.
