JALA’s commitment to legal compliance and good corporate governance has received recognition. At the 2025 Indonesia Regulatory Compliance Awards (IRCA), organized by Hukumonline, JALA was honored with the Gold tier of Notable Enterprise in Regulatory Compliance in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunication category. This award reflects how legal compliance has become a key foundation for sustainable and professional business development, including in the aquatech sector where JALA operates.

IRCA is an appreciation and ranking event that recognizes companies from various industries that demonstrate real commitment to regulatory compliance. The ranking considers each company’s specific characteristics based on their sector, business complexity, and regulatory landscape. In the Technology, Media, and Telecommunication category, JALA was chosen for its consistent implementation of legal compliance practices.

Behind this recognition is the central role of JALA’s Legal Team, a strategic partner that ensures every business activity runs according to the law, minimizes risk, and aligns with long-term goals. Their work spans from securing permits and project legality in the early stages to protecting company assets and ensuring sustainability compliance in operations.

Each day, they handle dozens of legal documents, such as drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements for both internal operations and external partnerships, ensuring safe and structured business relationships. The team does not only step in when issues arise, but they anticipate risks and regulatory changes early on, including conducting research on emerging issues.

Some notable achievements that reflect JALA’s Legal Team’s impact of contribution include:

  • Certification for the quality safety of frozen shrimp products from Frosala. The Legal Team assists the entire process to obtain Certification of Processing Feasibility (SKP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) as food safety standards for processed shrimp products.
  • Land acquisition and license for shrimp farm project in Donggala, Central Sulawesi. In this strategic project of Climate Smart Shrimp Farming (CSSF), the Legal Team bridges the communication and coordination between the company and regulators, including the management of Marine Space Utilization Activity Suitability (KKPR Laut) and environmental permit, and build a synergy with local governments.
  • Intellectual property registration. The Legal Team oversees the intellectual property registration for JALA’s key technologies to ensure long-term protection of our innovations.
  • Legal audit and Annual General Meeting of Shareholders support. The Legal Team prepares all legal documents required for internal and external audits, as well as corporate documents for the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.

In addition to the key projects mentioned earlier, JALA’s Legal Team has achieved several notable milestones in the legal field, including:

  • Internal Legal Due Diligence. Conducted annually across JALA Group, followed by corrective actions based on findings.
  • Contracts dan Corporate Action. Developed agreement templates tailored to each business unit’s needs and supported various corporate actions.
  • Intellectual Property Protection. Handled the registration process for JALA’s intellectual property (IP) and monitored the status of registered assets.
  • Legal Compliance. Performed due diligence for all new partners and managed the company’s licensing requirements.
  • Nominated as "Indonesia’s Most Innovative In-House Counsel Team 2024" and "Indonesia’s Most Respected In-House Counsel Team 2024".
  • Finalist of Compliance and Risk Management In-House Team of the Year at ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2025.
  • Received the Notable Enterprise in Regulatory Compliance (Gold) award in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunication sector at the Indonesia Regulatory Compliance Awards 2025.

Their performance has also been validated through various certifications, including Certified Mediator, Halal Supervisor, Legal Auditor, Food Safety System Certification 22000, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and the Special Education Program for the Advocate Profession (PKPA).

JALA’s Legal Team also contributes to building a standardized and sustainable shrimp farming. They actively participate with government institutions to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Government partnerships for legal compliance: Collaborating with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the team helps secure permits for marine spatial use, aquaculture standard certifications (CBIB/GAP), as well as quality standard and certifications for aquaculture products.
  • Shrimp farming association partnerships: The Legal Team works with Shrimp Club Indonesia (SCI) and other associations to help business players or shrimp farmers navigate licensing procedures, promotes compliance to CBIB or GAP, and supports fair, legally sound partnership agreements.
  • Commitment to environmental standards: With the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the team ensures compliance in waste management and environmental permitting (AMDAL, UKL-UPL) and encourages sustainable aquaculture practices.

JALA’s Legal Team's contribution to the mission of supporting sustainable and professional shrimp farming is reflected through their active role in ensuring that all legal and regulatory aspects are met appropriately and responsibly. The Legal Team consistently assists in the process of fulfilling business permits, from basic permits to environmental permits which are an important foundation in sustainable farming practices.

They ensure that all JALA operational activities and partnerships align with the regulations, especially those related to environmental protection, food safety, and provisions on spatial planning and resource utilization. The team demonstrates this commitment in their dedicated legal support service, JALA Kusuma.
