JALA has just completed a series A funding round of US$13.1 million. With this round of funding, JALA is determined to strengthen the shrimp cultivation industry in Indonesia. Apart from that, JALA also plans to expand its operations in several regions in Indonesia, including Sumatra, Sulawesi and Nusa Tenggara. These three regions have unique potential for the growth of the shrimp farming industry.
This series A funding round was led by Intudo Ventures, the only VC firm that exclusively invests in Indonesia, with the participation of SMDV, a VC company focusing on technology companies. JALA also has support from existing investors, namely Mirova, an investment manager that focuses on sustainable investment, and Meloy Fund, an investment fund that focuses on the fisheries and seafood sector.
Liris Maduningtyas, Co-Founder and CEO of JALA, revealed JALA's vision for the future.
Paving the way to a sustainable future for Indonesia's shrimp industry is at the heart of JALA's mission. With the backing of Intudo and SMDV, we are more thrilled than ever to amplify our efforts. This funding will enable us to bring our end-to-end shrimp farming solution to remote areas in Indonesia and equip local farmers with the technological and financial support they need in advancing the country's shrimp production.
Patrick Yip, Founding Partner of Intudo Ventures expressed his enthusiasm toward JALA.
