JALA is looking for a Media Relations Intern who will assist in the development and implementation of media relations strategies. The Media Relations Intern will also draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials. The candidate must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of media relations strategies
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials
  • Monitor media coverage and compile media reports
  • Help maintain and update media contact lists and databases
  • Coordinate and facilitate media inquiries and interview requests
  • Support the organization of press events, conferences, and media briefings
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive messaging and branding
  • Engage in social media monitoring and content creation as needed
  • Assist in researching and identifying media and PR opportunities
  • Perform administrative duties related to media relations activities
Skills & Capabilities
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with media databases and PR tools is a plus
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms and trends
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Creative thinker with a proactive attitude
