In shrimp farming, water quality is a critical factor that must be carefully maintained. When water quality parameters are maintained and remain stable, diseases such as White Feces Disease (WFD) can be prevented early on. For this reason, it is essential that shrimp farmers are equipped with knowledge and strategies to maintain water quality effectively.
Addressing this need, JALA held the Guyub program, a strategic forum for shrimp farmers to engage in discussions around key issues in shrimp farming. The event took place in Sukadana and Akar-Akar Villages, Bayan, North Lombok, on March 19–20, 2025, and brought together a total of 64 local shrimp farmers.
The agenda featured a material presentation and discussions on water treatment in shrimp farming and disease prevention strategies. The material was presented by Mr. Mochamad Nadif, a farming consultant from CP Prima.
More than just a forum for information sharing, Guyub serves as a platform to develop strategies in response to on-farm challenges, particularly those related to water quality and disease prevention. Through Guyub, productive, healthy, and sustainable shrimp farming practices are hopefully manifested, ultimately supporting the livelihoods of farmers in North Lombok.
The Guyub program would not have succeeded without the guidance and support from the UNIDO-ASSIST team and local partners. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Iana Roessl, Ms. Lia Rosida, Mr. Lilik Triyanto, and Mr. Andrew Rogers as part of the UNIDO-ASSIST team for their valuable support and guidance,” said Christine Kombong, Head of Sustainability of JALA.
Our gratitude also extends to the beneficiary communities in both Akar-Akar and Sukadana Villages for their enthusiasm, as well as institutional partners, namely the Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara and the Government of North Lombok, for their support.
