JALA is looking for an Engineering Manager to partner with engineering, product, and design leaders in shaping team direction and strategy. The candidate must be able to lead software engineering teams that deliver impact quickly and have experience in managing product software engineers.
Roles & Responsibilities
Partnering with engineering, product, and design leaders to shape team direction and strategy.
Supporting and driving this strategy to generate clear impact with the help of your team.
Enabling your team to achieve high levels of productivity, performance and reliability.
Teaching, mentoring, coaching and being a role model for engineers and other product managers.
Creating a collaborative, inclusive and supportive team culture focused on fast, focused, and high impact execution.
Helping to shape and evolve our engineering culture by contributing to our engineering organization programs.
Ad-hoc coding. To be an effective manager, we believe you need a high degree of empathy and respect. To help with this, you'll be getting into the code, perhaps contributing to the team's project, or working on some automation scripts.

An ability to lead software engineering teams that deliver impact quickly.
Experience in managing product software engineers.
Good technical background in software engineering with first-hand software development experience.
Experience in developing and supporting a team of engineers in your personal growth and career progression.
A technical understanding of web and mobile platforms, the unique opportunities and challenges that come with shipping and maintaining web and mobile products.
Experience in shipping/delivering web and mobile app.
Passionate about recruiting, hiring, and growing our software engineering team.
A track record of partnering with product and design leadership to deliver great outcomes.
Demonstrated impact in a similar technical leadership role.
A growth mindset and eagerness to learn.
The ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy.
Have built engineering teams from the ground up. Confidently navigate the early forming and storming phases of team.
Experience with different product development methodologies.
